RVN Reproduction Manager

Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, United Kingdom The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Full time £40,000 - £70,000 per year

This role will be based on site at our Guide Dogs National Centre near Leamington Spa. You'll be working 35 hours per week between the hours of 8am and 6pm, with weekend working on a rotational basis.

Are you an experienced RVN looking for a new challenge? Would you enjoy a hybrid role managing a team whilst still enjoying clinical work? Do you want to be part of a world-leading organisation dedicated to supporting people with sight loss? This is your chance to use your skills in a meaningful way and lead an inspiring team at the heart of our successful breeding centre.

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to our breeding dogs, ensuring breeding activities are carried out to the highest ethical standards. Supported by two RVN Reproduction Specialists and under the direction of a veterinary surgeon, you will be responsible for the quality and success of the breeding programme, delivering exceptional conception rates and maximising the average litter size. As part of the clinical veterinary team, you will also support the in-house veterinary team to deliver clinical services to all our dogs, working at our on-site practice facilities. Full training in canine reproduction practices will be given.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the on-site RVN Canine Reproduction Specialists to maximise production, efficiency and quality within the Guide Dogs breeding programme
  • Ensure compliance with RCVS requirements and best practice, upholding the highest ethical standards
  • Oversee all duties involved in the management of matings and the reproductive laboratory. Carry out regular cytology and blood progesterone testing of brood bitches and develop and maintain skills in ultrasound scanning techniques
  • Assist with clinical veterinary nurse duties to include examinations, diagnostics and treatment of Guide Dogs' dogs
  • Represent Guide Dogs at internal and external events, providing subject matter expertise on Guide Dogs' breeding programme, specifically reproduction processes
  • Collaborate with other International Guide Dog Federation Schools for the enhancement of breeding programmes
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Breeding Dog Owners and volunteers.

What We're Looking For:

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse with proven clinical and managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of small animal clinical practice, including experience in canine reproduction or breeding programmes, ultrasonography and laboratory operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and veterinary practice management systems.
  • A valid UK/EU driving licence (or ability to complete the role without one).

No two people with sight loss are the same, and none of our people are either. So, we are proud to offer a range of person-centred benefits that can support each member of staff in ways that really mean something to them – and show them how much they mean to us. We offer a flexible benefits package, discounts and cashback scheme, a generous holiday allowance and matched contributory pension scheme to care for our people.
