Purpose of the Role

To support the Upholstery Department in the efficient manufacture of high-quality upholstered furniture. The Production Assistant will assist upholsterers and other team members with general labouring duties, material preparation, movement of goods, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work area to ensure smooth production flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist upholsterers with day-to-day production tasks, including lifting, turning, and positioning furniture frames and components.
  • Prepare materials such as fabric, foam, and padding for use in the upholstery process.
  • Ensure all materials and components are available at workstations to meet daily production targets.
  • Move finished goods and components between work areas safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the upholstery area in line with 5S and Health & Safety standards.
  • Support stock control activities, including checking and replenishing materials.
  • Use hand tools and equipment as required, following training and safety instructions.
  • Assist with waste disposal and recycling processes.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
  • Report any defects, damages, or shortages promptly to the Team Leader.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining quality standards.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in furniture or upholstery manufacturing.

Monday to Thursday - 06:45am - 15:45pm, Friday 06:45am - 11:45am

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 39 per week
