Leading global sports events organisation require an Event Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. As the key finance contact for several high-profile events, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success and smooth operation of these prestigious occasions. The successful candidate will be a recently qualified (ACA/ACA/CIMA) qualified accountant from either a practice or industry background

The Role -

  • Assume the position of key finance contact on predominantly two key sports events, serving as the primary liaison between the finance department and the event directors and operations teams.
  • Provide comprehensive financial support and guidance to the VP, Finance Director and event leadership, ensuring they have clear and concise information for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with the VP, Finance Director and senior directors of each event to maintain up-to-date revenue planning, operations budgets, and reconciliations, enabling accurate pre- and post-show financial reporting.
  • Oversee the calculation, support, and submission of applicable tax-related matters, working closely with the internal tax team to ensure appropriate treatment.
  • Own the detailed business planning and cash flow forecasting for the events, identifying and flagging any risks or opportunities as necessary.
  • Where applicable, calculate, support, and submit insurance claims in a timely manner to ensure the company's financial interests are protected.
  • Provide the VP, Finance Director with regular updates and comprehensive reporting, including commentary on any variances to plan, to ensure the month-end P&L and balance sheet accurately reflect the current financial position.
  • Ensure weekly cash flow requests, sales reports, and quarterly commission statements are accurate and complete.

The Person -

  • Qualified ACA, CIMA, or ACCA (or equivalent) with a strong background in accounting and finance.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, including event directors, operations teams, and senior finance leaders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage and reconcile large data sets while maintaining a strong focus on process and efficiency.
  • Adaptable and flexible, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to work under pressure to meet multiple, sometimes conflicting, deadlines.
