Social Worker – Children Looked After (CLA)

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Social Worker to join a Children Looked After (CLA) Team based in Hackney.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality social work support to children and young people in care — ensuring their needs are met, their voices are heard, and that they are supported to achieve positive and stable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of children looked after, ensuring each child has a clear, outcome-focused care plan.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people to support their emotional and social development.
  • Conduct regular visits and reviews in accordance with statutory timescales.
  • Work closely with foster carers, families, schools, and health professionals.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports for LAC reviews, courts, and care planning meetings.
  • Undertake permanency planning and contribute to achieving long-term stability for children.
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure children's welfare is always prioritised.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration

Proven experience within Children Looked After / LAC / Permanency / Corporate Parenting teams

Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, and Safeguarding Frameworks

Excellent communication, report-writing, and relationship-building skills

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment
