Role Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial transactions and support the finance function. This role will focus on maintaining accurate records across the sales and purchase ledgers, handling CIS-related tasks, and preparing applications for payment. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, excellent attention to detail, and a good understanding of construction industry financial practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Purchase Ledger Management

· Maintain accurate records of customer invoices and payments.

· Create sales invoices

· Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.

· Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.

CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) Administration

· Apply CIS deductions correctly for subcontractors.

· Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.

· Submit monthly CIS returns and maintain relevant documentation.

Applications for Payment

· Prepare and submit applications for payment based on project manager instructions.

· Ensure all supporting documentation is accurate and complete.

· Track submitted applications and follow up on outstanding payments.

General Bookkeeping Duties

· Bank reconciliations and cash flow tracking.

· Assist with VAT returns and other financial reporting.

· Support the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks as required.

Skills & Qualifications:

· Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting, ideally within the construction or engineering sector.

· Strong understanding of sales and purchase ledger processes.

· Familiarity with CIS regulations and procedures.

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).

· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
