Make your mark in Facilities
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Assistant II will complete maintenance tasks to support the daily repairs and preventative maintenance to interior and exterior of the building.
The position supports the daily operations for the facility. Ensures work quality with a strong knowledge of adopted processes and procedures and recommends approaches to address unique maintenance issues. Handles escalated issues with direction from management. Assists in the planning and execution of facilities maintenance programs. The goal is to unlock the full potential in each colleague – empowering our people to grow as insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.
How you will create an impact:
- Perform scheduled preventative and remedial maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the Plant and Property, including basic electrical, plumbing carpentry and mechanical skills.
- Adjusting, oiling, cleaning, changing filters and other.
- Install interior fittings such as pictures, paintings and other.
- Repairs to plumbing and electrical systems including repairing leaks, replacing bulbs etc.
- Assist other technical specialists and contractors as required.
- Co-ordination of furniture configurations with associated electrical, computer cabling and other associated trades.
- Repairs to interior finishes and furniture including paint touch-up, parts (building hardware), replacement and any other duties as required.
- Responds to 24/7 emergency calls at the property when called.
- Responsible for any tools provided by the company.
- Complies with company safety & security policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to succeed
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical training beyond high school with at least one-year experience working within different trades.
- Basic electrical, plumbing carpentry and mechanical skills.
- Experience in building maintenance performing a wide variety of tasks
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, ie. Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings and have a good understanding of Health and Safety Regulations, is preferred
- Ability to effectively present information, including writing reports, and respond to questions from management and staff.
- Ability to work on-call and/or outside of normal business hours
- Valid driver's license for private and/or light truck required
- Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders and ability to lift/carry heavy loads approximately 40 pounds
- Willingness to learn and be trained in all aspects of facilities management.
