About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Buyer to join our team and help shape a newly developed buying and purchasing function within the business. You'll play a key role in driving best buying practices, building strong supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective procurement that balances price, quality, and service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing supplier onboarding and compliance in line with ISO processes.
- Managing daily purchasing operations with full financial and audit traceability.
- Monitoring stock levels, ensuring timely procurement, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Collaborating closely with finance, operations, and commercial teams to ensure seamless material flow and cost control.

Qualifications and Experience
- Experience managing stock levels of electrical materials, including setting reorder thresholds and maintaining accurate records. (E)
- Proven ability to generate inventory and usage reports for senior management, finance teams, or auditors. (E)
- Experience analysing stock loss trends and implementing preventative measures, particularly in a maintenance or wholesaling environment. (E)
- Familiarity with waste management processes, including Waste Transfer Notes and WEEE compliance. (E)
Knowledge
- Good working knowledge of electrical materials, components, and consumables commonly used in maintenance and installation. (E)
- Understanding of efficient stores layout and stock flow for electrical components in an office-based environment. (E)
- Proficient in using Microsoft 4PS or similar ERP systems for inventory and financial tracking. (E)
- Knowledge of safe disposal practices for electrical and hazardous waste. (E)
- Awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations relevant to electrical maintenance. (D)
- Understanding of PPE requirements for field engineers and maintaining issue logs. (D)
- Awareness of data security and confidentiality when handling supplier, job, and stock data. (D)
Skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stock lines and job allocations. (E)
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. (E)
- Ability to build effective working relationships with engineers, project managers, and suppliers. (E)
- Confident in influencing and negotiating with internal teams and third-party suppliers. (E)
- Competent in conducting regular stock audits and reconciliations. (E)
- Analytical skills to interpret data and present findings clearly. (D)
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and digital tools, including Joblogic or similar job management systems. (D)

- Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel to other sites if required. (E)

Duties
- Manage the receipt and inspection of all deliveries, ensuring compliance with HSE and environmental standards.
- Maintain accurate records of stock, plant, and equipment using Microsoft 4PS.
- Monitor and reconcile stock levels, ensuring accuracy in both quantity and quality.
- Track and report on the financial impact of stock usage, write-offs, and adjustments.
- Liaise with the Accounts Team to support cost tracking for materials and waste disposal.
- Ensure all incoming stock is correctly documented and stored in line with operational needs.
- Use Joblogic to allocate materials to specific jobs and ensure timely booking in/out.
- Support engineers and office staff in following best practices for material handling and waste segregation.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing and ensure inventory valuations reflect current supplier rates.

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
