Overview
We are seeking compassionate and attentive Night Watch Staff to provide essential care and supervision during overnight hours. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and a genuine desire to support vulnerable individuals. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those requiring specialised care during the night.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents' safety and well-being throughout the night, responding promptly to any emergencies or concerns
- Conduct regular checks on residents, ensuring they are comfortable and secure
- Assist with basic patient care tasks such as repositioning or providing comfort measures
- Administer medication as authorised and document all care activities accurately
- Support with meal preparation or feeding if required during night hours
- Manage behaviour effectively, especially in cases involving dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols
- Assist with light housekeeping duties related to resident care areas
- Record detailed reports on residents' conditions and any incidents during shift
- Support with mobility assistance, including heavy lifting if necessary, ensuring proper techniques are used
Skills
- Experience in assisted living, nursing home, or home care environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient care practices, including medication administration and behaviour management
- Familiarity within Mental Health, dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, or senior care is advantageous
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly through first aid skills and quick decision-making
- Competence in driving if required for resident transportation or errands
- Strong caregiving abilities with a compassionate approach towards vulnerable individuals
- Capable of heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with patient support and mobility assistance
- Excellent organisational skills for accurate record keeping and reporting
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and families
