As a Detail Design Engineer, you will carry out detailed Engineering design activities, working closely with cross-functional teams on a range of projects, making sure that work complies with industry standards and regulations.

You will deliver accurate technical drawings and specifications, and will help to identify and resolve any design issues that may arise. You'll also support the business in preparing technical reports and documents, and participate in design reviews.

You're an experienced Designer, and are comfortable using design software and tools such as FORAN. You've got a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and are able to use analytical and problem solving skills in challenging situations.

You're able to work autonomously or within a larger team, and are able to flexibly adapt to changing project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of CAD Models and Drawings: Producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings to meet required standards.
  • Design Deliverables: Ensuring all design deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
  • Project Support: Contributing to and supporting the entire project and product design cycle, from concept to construction and installation.
  • Technical Support: Providing technical support during the construction and installation phases.
  • Perform self-verification of work.
  • Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
  • Be aware of and ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented
  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.
  • Change embodiment.

Qualifications

  • The candidate is required to hold an NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification / experience in relatable discipline subject
  • Apprenticeship in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience

Essential Skills

  • Be proficient in the use of one or more parametric/spec driven CAD system both in a 3D & 2D environment
  • Able to work to Engineering Design Standards

Desired Skills

  • Preferable T26 Experience
  • FORAN.
  • Windchill
  • Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices

Experience

  • Experience in Design processes and procedures specifically within detail design
  • Working on Naval or Commercial Marine projects (preferably naval shipbuilding projects/alternatively new build or major conversion packages)
  • Experience in Mechanical, Piping or HVAC
  • Relevant experience from other industries including, but not limited to, Oil & Gas, Process, Manufacturing, Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Civil and Automotive
