You will like

The Structural Engineer Facades role itself where you will be delivering façade design across sectors including education, stadia, transport, residential and commercial. You will play a key role managing façade engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and construction monitoring. More specifically:

  • Execute and coordinate façade engineering projects to a high technical standard
  • Prepare design information including drawings, calculations, specifications and reports
  • Review and approve design outputs in line with quality procedures
  • Manage feasibility studies and technical reports
  • Undertake structural surveys and produce professional reports
  • Lead project management and financial control on small and medium-sized projects
  • Build strong relationships with clients, local authorities and project teams
  • Supervise use of engineering software and systems
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and CAD technicians
  • Support business development activity, bids and proposals
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 and CDM regulations
  • Coordinate sub-contractors and external suppliers
  • Attend and contribute to design and site meetings
  • Manage design deliverables including TIDPs, Suitability Codes and SMP compliance
  • Identify and communicate project risks
  • Promote best practice standards and continuous improvement

You will have

To be successful as Structural Engineer Facades, you will be technically strong, commercially aware and passionate about façade engineering, with experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers. Plus a healthy mix of the following:

  • HND/HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering and façade physics
  • Proficient in structural design (steel, stainless steel, aluminium, timber and glass)
  • Experience using structural analysis software
  • Strong project coordination and time management skills
  • Experience delegating and mentoring junior team members
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes/British Standards
  • Understanding of complex construction methods
  • Good working knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work within ISO 19650 processes
