The Employability & Careers Officer will play a central role in supporting students' transition from education to employment. The post holder will lead the college's employability initiatives, building partnerships with employers, organising job fairs and career events, and delivering tailored advice and training sessions that enhance students' job readiness and career confidence.

This permanent position is your chance to truly make a difference, helping our students develop essential skills, gain invaluable experience, and build confidence for their next steps.

As a vital member of our Support team, you'll take on a dynamic and varied role where no two days are the same As our Employability and Work Placement Officer you will be at the heart of creating and nurturing strong relationships with local businesses and voluntary organisations. You will spot and develop exciting new placement opportunities that inspire and challenge our students. You will collaborate with teaching staff and students to match placements that align perfectly with individual aspirations and manage the behind-the-scenes magic, ensuring smooth and efficient placement administration. You will also support students in developing their employability skills and knowledge of job search and application by working with our Careers Academies, which could involve organising and delivering small scale events, workshops or 1:1 meeting.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Sparking inspiration and guiding students to unlock their full potential; helping students for job placements.
  • Teaming up with external organisations to offer high-quality employer engagement opportunities for our students;
  • Expanding our network of employer connections, both regionally and nationally.
  • Representing the college at networking events;
  • Delivering exciting presentations about the fantastic employability work to students, staff or employers;
  • Conducting industry talks and discussions for students to get hands on experience from employers. Arranging guest speakers from industry and employment fairs.
  • Keeping an eye on students out in the field, visiting them on their work placements and making sure they're having an amazing experience. This role often requires travelling to other campuses.
  • Maximise the progression data of the B3 matrix for our graduates.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in employability, careers guidance, recruitment, or student services
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Strong organisational and event-planning abilities
  • Understanding of the local job market and employer needs
  • Passion for supporting young people and adult learners into meaningful employment
  • Proficiency with MS Office, online job portals, and digital communication tools

Desirable:

  • Level 3 & above qualification in Business & Management
  • Previous experience in Higher or further education or working with diverse learner
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship and traineeship frameworks
