Help support community engagement for Sheffield's Transport team.

About the Role
The traffic liaison role will be the first point of contact between the City Transport team and the public, local Councillors, local MP's and Local Area Committee's. The successful candidate will support the team in responding to enquiries from all elements of the local community.
You will join a team of experienced highway and traffic engineers as well as working with transport planning professionals. Your ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients, stakeholders, and customers will be crucial, as will your confidence in working in a political environment.
What We're Looking For:
- Assist in the development of innovative solutions to problems
- Manage and control access to data and information in line with ICT and information policies and procedures, GDPR, and other legislation, guidance, and good practice.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the political environment and how to work within it when required to work with members and/or Councillors.
- Work effectively with all relevant partners, customers, stakeholders to give advice, resolve problems, implement policies, achieve mutually beneficial goals and improve services.
- Understanding of costs and income generation and compliance with governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and processes that support the effective delivery of the service.
- Where appropriate, monitor expenditure against budget and flag potential overspends.
- Contribute towards a customer ethos in the service by providing specialist guidance and support to clients/ partners.
- Develop and maintain professional knowledge to support service improvements.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
