Job Description for Class Assistant

We have a very exciting opportunity for a Senior Class Assistant to support us at Kumon Oldham Central Study Centre. This exciting role involves taking on some instructional responsibilities of students aged 4 upwards. The position is for approximately 12 hours each week. The hours will be approximately 3.30-7pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Kumon develops every child's potential, offering maths and English study programmes to more than four million students worldwide. Kumon currently have over 650 franchised study centres across the UK and Ireland.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Working with the Kumon Instructor to deliver high-quality student instruction
  • Ensuring that processes are followed
  • Support student retention and work closely with parents to improve child's ability
  • Accurately mark student's completed work in class
  • Accurately record their daily work so the Instructor can instruct the student appropriately
  • Observe students and provide feedback to the Instructor
  • General administration duties as and when requested by the Instructor
  • Participate in training and marketing events as required
  • Promote Kumon's values in all interactions with parents, students and other visitors to the Study Centre

Once selected, candidates will be required to go through enhanced DBS Check. Candidates with valid enhanced DBS checks will be a plus.

Key skills and experience required for this role are:

  • A passion for education and development of children through individualized study.
  • Experience as teaching assistant or working with children an advantage
  • Great communication skills
  • A strong grasp of written and spoken English.
  • A sound knowledge of maths
  • Working with children is an advantage but not essential
