Teaching Assistant – Primary & SEND Support
Hourly Rate | Flexible Hours | In-Person Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting primary-aged children in both mainstream and SEND environments. This role will include 1–2–1 support as well as assisting within the classroom setting to help create a positive and inclusive learning experience for all students.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and school staff to support learning, behaviour regulation and development. You will work with children who may require additional support, including those with SEND needs, ensuring that they feel safe, supported and confident in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1–2–1 support for children who require additional learning or behavioural guidance.
- Support teaching and learning within the classroom to help deliver engaging activities.
- Assist with lesson delivery and adapt resources where needed to support different learning styles and abilities.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other school staff.
- Help create an inclusive, calm and supportive environment for all students.
Requirements
- Teaching qualification suitable for working with Primary School-aged children (Desirable).
- Qualification or experience in Early Years.
- Previous experience working in primary education and supporting children with SEND.
- Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with children and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a warm and encouraging approach.
- Reliable and committed, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- DBS (Essential)
