Inspire. Support. Safeguard. Make a Difference.

At Rock Ferry Primary School, part of Cheshire Academies Trust, we are proud to be an inclusive and nurturing school community where every child is encouraged to "be the best they can be." We are known for the warm, welcoming atmosphere that greets every visitor – a reflection of our strong commitment to emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, and an environment where children can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Safeguarding and Family Welfare Officer to join our dedicated team. This key role involves working closely with children and families to provide support, access services, and ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and pastoral care.

About the Role
As our school-based Safeguarding & Family Welfare Officer, you will:
Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), managing safeguarding referrals and representing the school at Core Group and Strategy Meetings.
Be a primary point of contact for staff, pupils and families regarding safeguarding concerns.
Work directly with vulnerable children and families to identify barriers, provide support, and deliver planned interventions.
Liaise with external agencies and refer families to appropriate services, ensuring a co-ordinated approach to care and support.
Manage a caseload and maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding procedures.
Demonstrate courage and professionalism when having difficult conversations and supporting those in crisis.
Dovetail into work begun by the attendance officer to promote and support in overcoming barriers at early help level.
This is a highly rewarding role in a school where the wellbeing and safety of every child is at the heart of what we do.

What we're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
Has a clear understanding of safeguarding processes and child protection procedures.
Is experienced in working with vulnerable children and families, with a commitment to improving outcomes.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, respectful relationships.
Is emotionally resilient, empathetic, and proactive.
Is willing to embrace our trauma-informed approach and work in line with our values and ethos.
Understands the importance of advocacy and inclusion, and always puts children first.

Rock Ferry Primary is a proud Gold Award holder for Attachment and Trauma Sensitive Schools (ATTSA). We are a trauma-informed school that values care, compassion, and relational practice.

Rock Ferry Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share these values.  Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This includes a request for references, prior to interview. Shortlisted candidates are expected to provide evidence of qualifications at interview and a satisfactory, enhanced DBS check will be undertaken before final confirmation to the successful candidate.
All applicants will be considered on the basis of suitability for the post regardless of sex, race or disability.

Application Process: Interested candidates are invited to submit an application through MyNewTerm website our online portal, outlining your suitability for the role and how you would contribute to the vision and values of Rock Ferry Primary School.

Further details of deadlines and other information can be found on the School and Cheshire Academies Trust websites. Application forms for the above post are available via our school website:
