About the Role

Keir Hardie Primary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate experienced and qualified Senior Family Support Worker to join our team.

The successful candidate will support the development of families' capacity, resilience, and independence — helping parents to build strong, positive relationships and access the right support at the right time. You will provide direct support to families through outreach, home visits, and group work within the ethos and vision of Keir Hardie Primary School and the wider Children's Centre framework.   You will need to be very flexible, have an enthusiastic approach and be able to work collaboratively and sensitively across our neighbourhood. You will be professional at all times, with a particular awareness of confidentiality.

Good communication skills, excellent recordkeeping and teamwork are essential.

This position will be based at Keir Hardie Children's Centre. Keir Hardie Children's Centre works in collaboration with Edith Kerrison Nursery School and Children's Centre as part of the Canning Town and Custom House Neighbourhood.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted, evidence-based support to families referred through triage.
  • Undertake home visits and outreach to help families engage with services and build resilience.
  • Develop and review family support plans, offering time-limited, focused interventions.
  • Facilitate parent-focused group sessions, promoting skills and confidence.
  • Work closely with other professionals to ensure coordinated support for children and families.
  • Promote inclusion, participation, and empowerment among families in our community.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure high standards of confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and act promptly in line with Keir Hardie and Newham safeguarding policies.
  • Deliver evidence-based parenting programmes such as Triple P and contribute to evaluating impact
About You
  •  Experience of working with families and children in an educational or community setting.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Training or experience in delivering parenting programmes.
We can offer you:
  • An innovative, dedicated, and hardworking team committed to raising standards.
  • A collaborative environment where colleagues thrive on teamwork to help every child succeed.
  • Strong commitment to professional development and ongoing training.
  • Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Comprehensive wellbeing and mental health support for staff.
  • A supportive and highly experienced Senior Leadership Team dedicated to nurturing and developing staff expertise.
