An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Therapy Support Worker to join the Occupational therapy team at Rosewarne Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital. This is a part time static post covering 30 hours per week. We are looking for a colleague who has experience of working in an inpatient setting and wishes to develop their assessment, care and discharge planning skills whilst being part of a dynamic, progressive multidisciplinary team.
Your clinical duties will involve providing quality Occupational Therapy assessments and discharge planning to a mostly older frail population with multi-pathology / long term conditions and acute medical complications. This will be under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist but will also require independent working. You must have excellent communication skills with an empathetic and caring nature. As part of a team you will need to be able to understand and interpret information relevant to the patient's condition/progress, identify problems and patient needs, whilst setting realistic discharge plans.
You will need to have excellent organisational skills combined with experience of working in older person's services. You will need a valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to different locations to facilitate hospital discharges.

Main duties of the jobThe purpose of the post is:
- To undertake specific skilled occupational therapy support work (e.g. carrying out assessments using various treatment skills) to aid the rehabilitation of patients. To plan and implement interventions, using various treatment skills and to monitor progress and evaluate the
outcome.
- To encourage patients and ward staff in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence.
- To support the occupational therapists by carrying out timely reviews of rehab care plans.
Key Dimensions of the post are:
- To practise autonomously, under the supervision of a qualified therapist (formal supervision received 6 weekly).
- To hold own caseload of patients delegated by the qualified members of the team.
- To practice as a lone worker.

- Substantial previous experience working as a Therapy Support Worker in a similar setting with an understanding of their roles and respect for the other professionals within the team
- Extensive experience of working in a range of therapy/ care settings e.g. hospital, community
- Experience of working with vulnerable adults

- NVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
