Readyfix is expanding, with a brand-new Wakefield (Featherstone) depot opening in January 2026. We are looking for a reliable, safety-focused and customer-friendly LGV Class 2 Driver to run a daily trunk route from Preston to Wakefield and back, while also supporting depot and delivery operations. This is a hands-on, early-start role that involves working closely with both warehouse and van delivery teams.

About the Role

You'll operate a curtain-sided LGV (12T–18T), transport palletised freight, and assist with depot tasks at both ends of the route. You will also represent the Readyfix brand when supporting Wakefield van operations and interacting with construction-sector customers.

What You'll Do | Driving & Compliance

  • Complete daily vehicle walk-around checks.
  • Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and securely loaded.
  • Drive safely between depots in line with UK road laws, tachograph rules and WTD regulations.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any issues promptly.

Wakefield Depot Operations

  • Unload palletised freight on arrival.
  • Break down pallets and prepare freight for onward van deliveries.
  • Sort and label freight for six Wakefield-based van drivers.
  • Support basic warehouse tasks when required (pick, pack, next-day loading).

Customer-Facing Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent service when interacting with van drivers, site teams and construction customers.
  • Maintain a professional, positive attitude when representing the Readyfix brand.

Paperwork & Administration

  • Organise manifests, delivery notes and route paperwork.
  • Provide drivers with the correct documents.
  • Capture signatures, timestamps and photo confirmations.
  • Report missing, damaged or incorrect freight.

General Depot Support

  • Help maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist with manual handling, bulky freight, and minor warehouse duties as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Cat C (Class 2) licence.
  • CPC and digital tachograph card.
  • Experience driving 12T–18T LGVs (curtain-sider experience preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and understanding of load-securing and UK transport legislation.
  • Confident working independently with good organisation and communication skills.
  • Physically fit for manual handling and pallet breakdown work.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Previous delivery or multi-drop driving experience.

Desirable

  • Forklift licence (Counterbalance or Reach).
  • Experience delivering to construction sites.
  • Knowledge of the building/construction industry.
