Sylvagen is a fast growing and innovative company operating in the recycling and renewable fuel sectors across the UK and Europe. We process and trade a range of waste and virgin materials using a variety of logistical solutions to end users including power stations and manufacturing facilities.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for an ambitious individual with a health & safety / compliance background. The ideal candidate will be articulate and professional enabling them to deal with all types of organisations. The job will be diverse in nature, meaning the suitable candidate must be able to adapt quickly and be prepared to roll up their sleeves and proactively help where required.

Your main role and responsibilities will include:

· Responsible for maintenance, development and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental management procedures and policies.

o Advise senior management on H&S matters

o Develop, implement and monitor H&S policies

o Lead audits, ensure risk assessments are conducted, oversee the implementation of control measures

o Promote wellbeing initiatives and deliver engaging training and communication

o Investigate incidents

· Environmental Compliance

o Environmental permit applications & management

o Ensuring the company is compliant with environmental regulations

o Creation of Internal documentation, including procedures and polices

o Monitor environmental systems

o Generating environmental reports using internal systems, e.g. quarterly returns

o Supplier & Customer compliance checks

Other tasks may include;

· Commercial property leases

· Planning

· Commercial Contracts / Supply Agreements

· Company Accreditations

Experience, qualifications, and expectations:

· NEBOSH qualification or equivalent (required).

  • Experience in waste management (preferred).
  • WAMITAB (preferred).

· Knowledge of exporting waste (Nice to have).

  • Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, risk management, and auditing practices.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and safety culture
  • Proactive, solution-orientated and be happy getting involved to a "hands on" level, if required.
  • Ability to build rapport across all levels of the business & externally
  • IT literate in Microsoft packages

The package:

Working hours: 8.00am to 6.00pm

Holidays: 28 days (inclusive of Bank Holidays)

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time (would potentially consider a part time option)
