About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Materials Testing Laboratory Manager to lead our state-of-the-art testing facility specializing in asphalt, concrete, and soil materials. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of laboratory operations, testing quality, and personnel management to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant results that support our construction and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including scheduling, testing, and reporting.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory technicians and field testing personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and company quality standards.
  • Oversee quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures for all materials testing.
  • Review and approve test reports, data sheets, and certifications.
  • Maintain calibration and certification of laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure testing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage laboratory safety programs and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials testing with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong working knowledge of testing procedures for asphalt, concrete, and soil.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, ASTM, and DOT testing standards and requirements.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in a UKAS Accredited Lab

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level III or IV, ACI, or DOT certifications in materials testing.
  • Experience managing a state-certified or accredited laboratory.
  • Proficiency with data management and reporting systems (e.g., LIMS, Excel).
