Area Product Owner
In WTW's Outsourcing Business, Admin Operations consists of close to one thousand colleagues providing a pension administration facility for clients of varying size across a variety of complex schemes. The workforce consists of differing seniority levels, skill mixes, team sizes and talent pools delivering diverse operational models, processes, and procedures.
Within Outsourcing Business, the Area Product Owner is an exciting senior role within the Digital Product teams for the UK portfolio. This role requires a motivated professional who is experienced in taking responsibility, who can on their own deliver results on both a product level as well as client specific projects.
One of the products that we are building is an enterprise multi-tenancy B2B2C web solution that serves millions of users (and hundreds of leading FTSE employer customers).
You are set out to realise the product vision and deliver value for user and the business, and work very closely with Product Manager, Design, Analysts, Engineering, Development, and Data team to build a product to revolutionise and transform the pension industry member experience. You will use various techniques and tools to influence and rally stakeholders and team members to work towards a solution, but also happily and ably collaborating with project stakeholders to achieve sign-off.
The Role
- Serve as the Area Product Owner who owns an area end-to-end within the application (i.e. journeys, features and personas) and be responsible for planning, delivery/execution, iterations/improvements of your area against product strategy - while ensuring we meet program milestones and business benefits
- Well-versed with the product development lifecycle from creative discovery, analysis, testing right up to release planning, and be responsible for the key results and metrics you are entrusted, and driving to meet the strategic goal of a scalable product offering that is as standardized and modularized as possible
- Excellent with epics identification, definition and planning to deliver against target outcomes. Engage and align with key stakeholders and cross-functional team to discover, analyse and document needs / Job To Be Done (JTBD) into solution design that balances users' need [usability], business & regulatory constraints & consideration [viability], and technical inputs [feasibility]
- Ensuring on-time, quality and value-focused delivery with clear and well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria (e.g., leveraging BDD and INVEST framework), leading refinement/grooming sessions to be ready for development ahead of sprint starts.
- Be user/member first: Partnering with Design team to leverage user feedback in the form of usability tests, focus groups, surveys, and other forms of research to identify pain points, unmet needs, and inform what and how we might optimize product accordingly.
- Be data-driven: Partnering with Data team to generate actionable insights, leverage those insights to achieve goals set for the product; continuously experiment and iterate as you deliver your roadmap in order to find innovative and effective solutions.
- Create and maintain materials for users and internal stakeholders that clearly communicate product capabilities; and support internal training and enablement for Customer Success and Operations teams
- As a senior member in the team, you will mentor and coach other product team members on delivering value across lifecycle, and champion and shape team culture on 'product and growth mindset'
- Supporting various tracks include new features, implementation /migration of new clients, and ongoing support of live clients
- Supporting Product Manager to shape roadmap and positioning, and for assigned area - proactively maintain a healthy and ordered backlog, flat priorities to inform sprint planning, and defect management.
- Partner with the Scrum masters to ensure the team's way of working is sustainable, efficient, and effective
At WTW, we trust you to know your work and the people, tools and environment you need to be successful. The majority of our colleagues work in a "hybrid" style, with a mix of remote, in-person and in office interactions dependent on the needs of the team, role and clients. Our flexibility is rooted in trust and "hybrid" is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We understand flexibility is key to supporting an inclusive and diverse workforce and so we encourage requests for all types of flexible working as well as location-based arrangements. Please speak to your recruiter to discuss more.
QualificationsThe Requirements
- Previous experience in heavily regulated industries (e.g., financial services, pensions/investments, LegalTech, MedTech) is desirable.
- Strong experience as a product owner in building customer-facing digital solutions, specifically enterprise applications with complex user journeys.
- Extensive hands-on experience with product discovery, requirement definitions, and scenario/segment handling, particularly where personalization and multi-tenancy are key aspects.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and managing multi-tenancy products, ensuring scalable and modular solutions that can cater to multiple clients and users with unique needs – rather than bespeaking.
- Experienced working with micro-architecture and headless Content Management Systems (CMS) in the tech stack to build and manage personalized experiences and content across various interfaces and channels.
- Involved in digital transformation projects and product-led operating model (transitioning from an IT model), with a focus on delivering value across the product lifecycle.
- Skilled in stakeholder management and change management, balancing the innovation of propositions via the product while supporting transition and responding to requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage expectations, challenge while upholding collaborative environments, and quickly troubleshoot complex problems that may arise in multi-tenancy environments.
- Strong ability to communicate technical and business concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clear understanding of product capabilities and roadmaps.
- Embrace and role-model a flexible and "can do" approach, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
At WTW, we believe difference makes us stronger. We want our workforce to reflect the different and varied markets we operate in and to build a culture of inclusivity that makes colleagues feel welcome, valued and empowered to bring their whole selves to work every day.
