Overview
The Non-Emergency Ambulance role is crucial in providing safe and efficient transportation for patients who require medical assistance but are not in immediate danger. This position involves working closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the necessary care during transit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and patient care, ensuring a high standard of service is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and comfortable transport for patients to and from healthcare facilities.
- Conduct basic physical examinations to assess patient conditions prior to transport.
- Administer basic life support as required and assist with medication administration under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and aseptic environment within the ambulance.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals regarding patient needs and care.
- Document patient information accurately, including any changes in condition during transit.
- Assist in triaging patients as necessary to determine the level of care required during transport.
- Ensure that all equipment is functioning correctly and report any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential.
- Experience in patient care settings, preferably within a hospital or similar environment.
- Familiarity with basic life support techniques and medication administration protocols.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanour.
- A valid driving licence may be required depending on the specific role responsibilities.
