The Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct is reopening and will accommodate low-risk young men aged 17 and over. It will focus on supporting rehabilitation and community re-integration through a wide array of vocational training and education programs.
The Department of Justice and Community Safety is now recruiting a new senior operations manager to deliver on the vision for Malmsbury and lead daily management of the facility.
What You Will Do
As senior operations manager, you'll be directly helping young people develop independence and prepare for a positive return to their communities.
You Will
- Oversee programs that support young people through education, training and job-readiness pathways.
- Manage the precinct's daily operations, including staffing, rostering and emergency response.
- Lead and support teams to deliver safe, fair and effective services that build trust and respect.
- Coordinate rehabilitation and offence-related programs with statewide service providers.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders and the Youth Parole Board on case management and program outcomes.
About You
A Certificate IV in Youth Justice or similar related qualification is desirable for this role, along with a current driver licence and valid Working with Children Check.
You Should Also Have
- Proven experience in youth justice, corrections or human services.
- Strong leadership and people management skills that promote a positive team culture.
- In-depth understanding of legislation and compliance in custodial environments.
- Ability to manage complex incidents, build partnerships and solve problems under pressure.
- Confidence to communicate clearly, influence outcomes and foster inclusion across diverse teams.
