Job Details
Working pattern: 24 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 09.30am - 2.30pm, Friday 10.00am - 2.00pm, (some flexibility on start and finish times providing that the core requirement of covering break and lunchtime duties are met) Term time plus Inset days only
Actual starting salary for 24 hours pw (calculated pro rata): £15,230 per annum
Salaries are paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

The Burgess Hill Academy are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate Library and Literacy Support Assistant to join the team. The Library and Literacy Support Assistant will be responsible for managing, developing and promoting the Academy Learning Resource Centre as an effective source for learning and a cross-curricular whole Academy resource. They will also teach literacy and reading skills across the Academy, including 1:1 and small group work, guided reading activities, managing the accelerated reader system and working as a Learning Support Assistant in some KS3 English lessons.
What You Need to Succeed
Person Specification Requirements:
- Experience of working within an educational environment or with young people is essential.
- Demonstrable ability in English and Maths at GCSE level 5 (Grade C) or above.
- IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) are essential
- Experience of supporting young people with reading would be an advantage
- Experience in a library would be an advantage
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to form effective working relationships across the Academy.
- Ability to work under pressure, dealing with conflicting demands and interruptions.
- Ability to work as part of a team and work unsupervised.
- Ability to work in a discreet and sensitive manner demonstrating sensitivity and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
