Description

Wood require Generalt Operatives for Civil works undertaking. Projects are also ongoing across the UK as a whole.

To assist in all aspects of general operatives duties including but not limited to; groundworks, environmental mitigation, culvert installation, fencing, site set-up, site maintenance, signage, CDM demarcation and assisting overhead line teams 

Undertake general labourer duties, checks and basic routine maintenance and general housekeeping 

  • Deliver the work safely 
  • Deliver the work productively  
  • Be reliable, trustworthy and honest 
  • To execute all activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management system requirements and best working 
  • HGV Second Man 
Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:

  • Read, understand and implement all applicable plans, procedures and work instructions for the project, ensuring always, that the project works is undertaken safely and to a high standard 
  • Complete all work scopes in accordance with the applicable work pack / job card instructions,  
  • Install and maintain the work site (fencing, signage, guarding, bog mats, trackway, etc.) 
  • Loading and offloading of materials and equipment 
  • Assisting the storeman where directed with the laying out and checking of materials 
  • Safe operation of plant & equipment 
  • Bank reversing delivery / Site vehicles either in the stores or on site 
  • Adhere to the Work at Height regulations when accessing the load bed of delivery vehicles 
  • Reporting of defects / hazards 
  • General housekeeping on the site and support site works 
  • Participate in toolbox talks 
  • General assistance to deliver the work 
  • Ensure that materials are booked out in the correct manner as directed by the Storeman 
  • Must stop any work that is unsafe 
  • Must put own safety and those of colleagues first 
  • Must start work only after assessing the risks 
  • Must demonstrate safety as an integral part of their job 
  • To work within established Company policies and procedures 
  • Promote company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviour in accordance with Company ethos 
  • To demonstrate safety, integrity & commitment always 
  • Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team and the wider business 
  • To undertake any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs
