Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Oxford Nanopore Technologies Full time

We're Hiring: Senior Commercial Data & Analytics Specialist
Oxford, Hybrid | Commercial Operations | Full-time

About Us

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park, with a global presence across the US, APAC, and Europe. Our sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis in fully scalable formats—from pocket-sized to population-scale—capable of analysing native DNA or RNA of any length.

Our mission? To enable the analysis of any living thing, by anyone, anywhere.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a commercially minded and technically strong Senior Commercial Data & Analytics Specialist to join our growing Commercial Operations team.

In this role, you'll act as a key bridge between regional commercial needs and global analytics capabilities. You'll shape commercial data strategy, drive reporting standardisation, and influence the design of scalable analytics solutions. You'll lead complex data initiatives, identify and resolve reporting gaps, and support interim solutions where global systems are still evolving.

You'll also guide cross-functional teams to improve data quality, accessibility, and governance—while mentoring junior team members and acting as a thought partner to ensure data enables insight-led, commercially effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Align cross-regional commercial data and reporting needs with global analytics strategies and systems

• Translate complex business requirements into scalable analytics specifications

• Identify and resolve data/reporting gaps, improving integrity, consistency, and accessibility

• Own key regional data initiatives and deliver interim solutions where needed

• Provide expert insights into data flow, architecture, and governance

• Partner with commercial, finance, and operations leaders to enhance decision-making

• Champion data management best practices and system usage

• Mentor junior team members to build analytics capability across the team

• Support change management and adoption of new analytics tools and frameworks

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field

• Business analyst or related certification desirable

• SQL/coding skills advantageous

• 5+ years in operations, business analytics, or data-related roles, with at least 2 years in analytics

• Experience working cross-functionally with remote/global teams

• Comfortable in fast-paced, matrixed environments

• Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), SQL, ERP systems (e.g., D365, Oracle, SAP), and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)

Skills & Attributes

• Strong understanding of commercial processes and data-driven decision-making

• Proven ability to influence commercial strategy through analytics

• Excellent communication skills—able to tell compelling stories with data

• High attention to detail and process integrity

• Data modelling or advanced analytics knowledge a plus

Why Join Us?

We offer a competitive salary, generous pension contributions, private healthcare, an attractive bonus scheme, and the chance to be part of a company that's truly changing the world of genomics.
