Role Overview
The Design Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of the design process from concept through to completion. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and leadership skills. The Design Manager will ensure that all design outputs meet client requirements, comply with industry standards, and align with project budgets and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Design Development & Innovation
· Collaborate with Directors to develop and implement improved design details and innovative solutions.
· Advise on offsite manufacturing strategies to optimize installation durations and project efficiency.
· Conduct research into emerging technologies, materials, and methods to enhance design capabilities.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives in design processes, including BIM integration and digital workflows.
Project Coordination & Communication
· Raise and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure timely resolution of design queries.
· Liaise with construction teams, project managers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design and build processes.
· Participate in project meetings, presenting design concepts and progress updates to clients and internal teams.
Technical & Quality Assurance
· Review and approve design documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
· Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, sustainability standards, and current legislation.
· Implement value engineering strategies to maintain quality and safety while achieving cost efficiency.
· Monitor and manage the quality of design outputs through regular reviews and evaluations.

· Track and manage design budgets, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
· Negotiate design-related agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
· Provide commercial input during design development to mitigate financial risks.
Leadership & Team Management
· Lead and mentor the design team, delegating tasks effectively and fostering a collaborative environment.
· Ensure team adherence to CAD/BIM standards, methods, and processes as outlined in company best practices.
· Support professional development within the team, keeping qualifications and skills aligned with industry standards.
Documentation & Handover
· Oversee sampling processes and manage technical submittals for client approval.
· Prepare early-stage O&M information and assist in compiling final manuals for client handover.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date design records and databases for future reference.
BIM Responsibilities
· Review, approve, and contribute to the development of Rox Best Practices, ensuring compliance with CAD/BIM standards.
· Collaborate with the Head of BIM to update and optimize workflows for BIM projects.
· Support the development of the Pre-Contract BIM Execution Plan and Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP).
· Ensure adequate resource allocation for BIM projects and maintain consistency in outputs across all projects.
Professional Attributes

· Commercially astute with the ability to balance design quality and cost efficiency.
· Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM methodologies.
