Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom LRQA Full time £61,800 - £114,000 per year

Job ID:43124

Location:Birmingham : 1 Trinity Park : Bi

Position Category:Information Technology

Position Type:Employee Regular

Job Title: Senior Business Analyst – Cyber Digital Strategy Reports To: Business Analysis Lead (Digital Transformation) Business Stream: Digital Transformation

We're at a pivotal moment in the evolution of LRQA's cyber capabilities, and we're building a new development team right at the heart of that change. This group will shape the tools, platforms, and services that our own teams rely on every day – and more importantly, the single, seamless experience our clients use to interact with their pen testing, SOC, IR, threat intel, red teaming, and GRC services. A major part of this journey is the development of our next-generation AI Pen Testing capabilities, where we'll blend automated intelligence with expert human oversight to deliver faster, deeper, and more continuous assurance than traditional approaches can match. You'll be helping us build something that actually makes a difference-a single platform that pulls our services together in a way that finally feels joined-up. We're making good use of new tech, including AI, but we're doing it with a clear purpose: giving clients a smoother, smarter experience rather than chasing trends. If you like getting your teeth into tricky problems and enjoy building tools that people genuinely rely on, you'll fit in well here. The team has room to try things out, make improvements as we go, and shape how the platform grows. The pace is lively, the work is varied, and you'll have a real hand in steering where we take our cyber services next.

Role Purpose

We're looking for an experienced and inquisitive Senior Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping LRQA's Cyber Digital Strategy – a flagship initiative in our journey to become a truly digital-first assurance provider.

This role sits within the Digital Transformation team and works in close partnership with LRQA's Cyber leadership, including senior executives across the business, as well as the Product Owner, Product Delivery Lead, and development squads. You'll act as a bridge between strategy and execution – translating business ambition into tangible, valuable digital outcomes.

You'll engage directly with senior stakeholders and, at times, with clients to understand their evolving needs, test ideas, and gather feedback on digital services. Your insight and analysis will directly influence how LRQA designs and delivers secure, scalable, and intelligent solutions across the Cyber portfolio – spanning SOC operations, Pen Testing, Attack Surface Management, AI-driven automation, and digital client engagement – all unified through the LRQA Cyber Portal.

Together with the Product Delivery Lead, you'll form part of a core, multidisciplinary delivery squad – combining agile delivery, technical innovation, and user-centric design to create secure, high-value digital products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Analysis & Value Definition
  • Partner with Cyber leadership and senior stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, business challenges, and desired outcomes.
  • Lead discovery and definition activities to frame business opportunities, value cases, and measurable success criteria.
  • Act as the guardian of business value – ensuring every feature, epic, or user story has a clear rationale, measurable impact, and traceability to strategic objectives.
  • Translate business needs into structured models, such as process flows, user journeys, and system interactions, that guide design and development.
  • Delivery & Collaboration
  • Work hands-on within agile squads to define features, write user stories, and maintain backlogs in collaboration with Product Owners and Developers.
  • Partner with the Product Delivery Lead to plan and prioritise sprints, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and capacity constraints.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and QA engineers to validate that solutions meet business and technical expectations.
  • Support release readiness by confirming that acceptance criteria and business outcomes are fully met before deployment.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Engage directly with senior executives and, where appropriate, clients to validate needs, test assumptions, and gather actionable feedback.
  • Facilitate workshops, playback sessions, and demonstrations to align stakeholders on decisions and priorities.
  • Communicate insights and findings clearly, creating concise, evidence-led documentation that informs decision-making across teams.
  • Continuous Improvement & Leadership
  • Mentor and coach junior analysts across the Digital Transformation community, sharing methods and promoting standards of excellence.
  • Contribute to the evolution of LRQA's Business Analysis practice, refining templates, toolkits, and agile BA techniques.
  • Champion a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making across the Cyber delivery team.
  • Promote alignment with LRQA's Discovery-to-Deliver (D2D) framework and transformation governance, ensuring traceability and consistency across the lifecycle.

About You

  • Experienced business analyst with a strong record of shaping and delivering digital products or transformation programmes in complex organisations.
  • Hands-on experience working within agile product teams, from discovery through to delivery.
  • Strategic thinker able to connect long-term business vision with immediate delivery priorities.
  • Excellent communicator and facilitator, comfortable bridging business, product, technical, and executive domains.
  • Confident engaging directly with clients and senior stakeholders to capture insights and test concepts.
  • Skilled in using data, process modelling, and design thinking to frame problems and identify opportunities.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity, SaaS, or digital service models (e.g. SOC, Pen Testing, or automation) is an advantage.
  • Naturally curious, diligent, and unafraid to challenge constructively. You thrive in ambiguity, seek evidence, and bring structure and clarity to complex problems.
  • Business analysis certification or equivalent experience preferred.
