Air Bearings Limited (ABL) are a world leading innovative manufacturer of air bearing solutions, used across the engineering spectrum; used across the engineering spectrum; whilst we are based in Dorset, we provide real world solutions globally.

We design and manufacture high precision air bearing spindles that can run up to speeds of 400,000 rpm.

Over 90% of our complete production process, from concept design through to the finished product, is completed in-house at our factories across Dorset.

Due to expansion, we are currently recruiting for a Trainee Assembly Technician (Shaft Setting) to join us on Day shift, at a busy and exciting time; This is a permanent, full-time position, working within a friendly and supportive team.

What will the role involve?

  • To safely use all materials, processes and tools in the preparation and setting of collets and shafts.
  • You will work from standard operating procedures, drawings and process control documents, in accordance with production schedules and other agreed timescales.
  • Ensure that you raise to your team-leader in a timely manner any tooling/resources/materials and/or process issues that may impact on your principal accountabilities.
  • Ensuring you raise any training and development needs to your direct supervisor to support your needs of the role.

What will you require?

  • Experience of working in a similar role is desirable, but not essential as training will be given
  • Ability to understand and follow technical drawings is desirable, but not essential
  • Well organised with the ability to manage time and work to tight deadlines.
  • Be a Self-motivated team player
  • Able to complete detailed/intricate work
  • Ability to operate with the minimum of supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with employees at all levels
  • IT literate
