About the role

My name is Eden, I am a 26 year old female who has a great & dry sense of humour. Always up for a laugh and a bit of banter too Lives for iced coffee especially from Starbucks. I am looking for a Personal Care Assistant to join my small team. I have a physical disability (Ullrich Muscular Dystrophy) this means I use a power wheelchair all of the time. I require physical support only, when I go about my day.

I am always looking for the next business idea but currently I have a laser cutter which I use to make personalised gifts and homeware decor which I sell online. I will need the physical side of this to be carried out by my PA but would be guided by me throughout. I do all this from my home which I share with my parents, however in 2020 I had my own extension added to the house so now I have my own living area.

About me

  • I enjoy getting out the house most days, the things I like to do include going shopping, coffee trips, cinema, theatre, seeing friends whenever I can, eating lunch at some local independent cafes and many more things
  • I have 2 dogs who I enjoy taking for walks
  • I have a new found love of concerts, they make me feel so alive. So I've got quite a few booked for next year
  • I'm a huge lover of true crime, crime thrillers and everything in between, think, Luther, Line Of Duty and Happy Valley
  • I take great pride in my appearance, my hair and makeup are extremely important to me, so someone who is confident or willing to learn how to style my hair and apply my make up under my direction is essential.

Main Duties

  • You will be required to assist me with all my physical needs and requests.

Full training and shadowing shifts specific to role will take place, whether you are new to care or experienced

  • *Female – Due to personal care (* Schedule 9, P1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies)
  • Making my food and drinks
  • Assisting me with both my craft business and skincare business
  • Light housework
  • Driving and accompanying me to places that I want to go.

Essential Criteria

  • Driving license and confident to drive my automatic Motability Wheelchair Accessible vehicle (WAV)
  • Comfortable around dogs

Terms and Conditions

Approx. 27 hours per week over 3 days a week.

10am – 7pm . Days/Hours can be discussed.

£14.03 per hour

Maternity Cover (**Possibility of additional hours)

The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work which would normally be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this position, the cost of which will be covered.

If successful, you will be required to provide details of two referees.

This post is subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
