Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader to manage our Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Unit. The primary role of the DBS is to help employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups including children. You will be responsible for ensuring your team effectively interpret and apply the DBS guidelines and associated legislation to ensure that important risk-based decisions in respect of Enhanced DBS certification are safe and robust. The workload is high and subject to specific requirements in terms of quality and timeliness. You will need to motivate and continually develop the team to meet compliance levels.

We are looking for a confident, proactive individual who enjoys working in a complex environment, you will need to be able to effectively manage external relationships with other safeguarding agencies as well as internal stakeholders. The Unit Manager has a regionally and nationally recognised role within the Enhanced DBS Application process, which is overseen by the DBS Agency, the Home Office and the National Police Chiefs Council.
