Home-Start Herefordshire is an independent, local charity run by Trustees. It has provided invaluable support and friendship to families since 1982 and achieved positive outcomes for hundreds of families across Herefordshire. We recruit and train volunteers to visit families at home and offer them informal, friendly, and confidential support. Our approach is as individual as the people we are helping.

We are affiliated with the national organisation Home-Start UK but are responsible for our management and funding. We have eight staff members, seven trustees and a team of approximately 60 volunteers.

Job Overview

We are seeking dedicated and proactive Trustee to join our organisation. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the management the charity and ensuring that we adhere to our mission and values. This position requires strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of governance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring alignment with our mission and objectives.
  • The effective governance of the scheme including funding, finance, insurance and premises.
  • Participate in trustee meetings
  • Utilise strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Assist in promoting our services and enhancing community engagement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role or relevant field is preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess information critically and make informed decisions.

Job Types: Part-time, Volunteer

Pay: £1.00-£2.00 per year

Expected hours: 1 – 5 per week
