We support individuals facing homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health challenges, addiction, offending histories, and broader social vulnerabilities. Through strong housing management, compassionate support, and robust compliance, we aim to exceed national standards for exempt accommodation.

Our service is grounded in
Kindness, Integrity, and Tenacity
—ensuring every resident is supported to thrive, not just survive.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role across Blackburn and the wider Lancashire area.

As a Support Worker at Prosocia Housing, you will play a central role in transforming lives and helping residents build safety, stability, and independence. You will provide structured 1:1 support, tenancy sustainment, crisis prevention, and practical guidance for individuals with complex or multiple needs. This role is both hands-on and highly rewarding, contributing directly to safer communities and better outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Direct Support & Tenancy Sustainment

  • Deliver structured 1:1 support sessions aligned with personalised support plans.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks and wellbeing conversations.
  • Assist residents to access mental health, substance misuse, medical, and community services.
  • Encourage independent living skills including budgeting, cooking, appointment management, and daily routines.
  • Reinforce positive behaviours and support tenants to maintain safe and stable accommodation.

2. Housing & Property Management

  • Ensure residents understand and comply with licence agreements and house rules.
  • Address low-level ASB quickly through early intervention and behaviour contracts.
  • Conduct regular room checks and property inspections to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Report repairs and maintenance issues through the Prosocia workflow system.
  • Support the delivery of a safe environment that meets HMO and fire safety expectations.

3. Recording, Reporting & Compliance

  • Accurately record support notes within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Update support plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding documentation as required.
  • Ensure all activities meet exempt accommodation criteria and internal policy standards.
  • Uphold confidentiality, GDPR compliance, and safeguarding responsibilities at all times.

4. Multi-Agency Collaboration

  • Work proactively with local authorities, CGL, health professionals, probation, and other community partners.
  • Attend case conferences, meetings, and other multi-agency forums as needed.
  • Contribute to professional assessments and collaborative support planning.

5. Creating a Positive, Therapeutic Environment

  • Build trusting, respectful relationships with residents.
  • Develop an inclusive, empowering atmosphere within all Prosocia Housing properties.
  • Promote a culture where residents feel valued, listened to, and supported in their journey toward independence.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults or individuals facing abuse, homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, boundaries, and professional conduct.
  • Basic IT literacy (note-taking, record keeping, email, case management systems).
  • A caring, non-judgemental approach with resilience and problem-solving ability.

Desirable

  • Experience in supported accommodation, social care, housing, or health services.
  • Relevant Level 2/3 qualifications in Health & Social Care, Support Work, Housing, or similar.
  • Knowledge of exempt accommodation regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience engaging with multi-agency partners such as CGL, probation, or mental health teams.
  • Lived Experience within the supported housing system.

What We Offer

  • A supportive, purpose-driven team culture.
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development.
  • Opportunities for advancement as Prosocia Housing expands nationally.
  • A meaningful role that makes a genuine difference in people's lives.
