Our client is a successful and fast-growing food manufacturing business with a strong presence across both branded and own label categories. Supplying the UK's major grocery retailers, they have built a reputation for innovation, quality, and customer collaboration. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Commercial Director to join the leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the company's commercial strategy.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Commercial Director will be responsible for leading the Sales and Marketing functions, driving sustainable growth across branded and own-label channels. This is a highly strategic and influential role, requiring a commercial leader with strong customer relationships, category insight, and the ability to deliver profitable growth in a competitive retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy in line with the company's overall growth objectives.
- Lead, coach and inspire the Sales and Marketing teams to deliver against revenue, margin, and market share targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail customers, ensuring alignment on category development and joint business plans.
- Identify and deliver new business opportunities across branded, own label and new channels.
- Work closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team to shape long-term strategic direction.
- Oversee brand development, marketing initiatives and innovation pipelines.
- Ensure effective pricing, promotional and trade investment strategies to maximise profitability.
- Use market data and insight to anticipate trends, guide decision making and support NPD initiatives.
About You
- Proven track record in a senior commercial leadership role within the UK food or FMCG industry.
- Strong experience managing relationships with major UK retailers.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Experience leading Sales and Marketing teams in both branded and own label environments.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and leadership skills.
- Commercially astute with strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Ambitious, collaborative and capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced business.
