Your Role
We're looking for a Global Payroll & Benefits Specialist to take ownership of payroll across our fully remote, international team. You'll be the go-to person for everything payroll-related, overseeing processing through Deel, resolving issues, and keeping things accurate, compliant, and on time.
This role involves close collaboration with Deel, Finance, and HR to manage payroll across multiple countries, maintain compliance, support benefits administration, and ensure data accuracy. If you're detail-oriented, organized, and enjoy solving operational puzzles, this role will suit you well. Key Responsibilities include:
Global Payroll Operations
- Oversee payroll processing across all countries in Deel, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local requirements.
- Gather and verify payroll data each cycle, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, salary adjustments, leave, and deductions.
- Review preliminary and final payroll reports from Deel, investigate discrepancies, and secure necessary approvals.
- Coordinate with Finance to make sure statutory payments such as taxes, pensions, and social contributions in line with local obligations.
- Partner with Finance to reconcile payroll data and support month-end and year-end processes.
- Deliver the FTE report for each month-end.
- Maintain payroll calendars, cutoffs, and approval workflows, keeping stakeholders informed.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining organised, accurate payroll records.
Deel Platform, Compliance & Data Management
- Act as the main point of contact for Deel, managing day-to-day operations and resolving system or payroll issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee and pay data within Deel, ensuring records are always current and compliant.
- Partner with Deel, HR, Finance, and Legal to stay aligned on local employment laws, tax obligations, and compliance requirements across all countries.
- Monitor system updates and legal changes, updating internal processes and documentation as needed.
- Maintain clear audit trails, ensure accurate reporting, and adhere to data privacy standards in accordance with the GDPR.
- Support payroll and compliance setup for new entities or EOR transitions.
Benefits Administration
- Manage benefits through Deel, including enrollments, renewals, and changes across multiple regions.
- Coordinate with Deel and local vendors on health insurance, pensions, and statutory benefit programs.
- Track benefit eligibility, participation, and costs, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with HR and Finance to review benefit renewals and monitor expenditure.
- Provide clear and timely responses to employee inquiries about benefits.
Employee Support & Continuous Improvement
- Respond to employee questions about pay, deductions, and benefits quickly and professionally.
- Identify recurring issues and work to improve efficiency and consistency in payroll processes.
- Produce regular payroll and benefits reports for HR and Finance.
- Seek opportunities to simplify and automate tasks, enhance accuracy, and improve the overall employee experience.
Your Profile
- 5+ years of experience managing multi-country payroll operations, ideally in a SaaS or remote-first company.
- Hands-on experience with Deel, Remote, Papaya Global, or similar global payroll platforms.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, taxes, and statutory benefits across regions (EMEA, Americas, or APAC).
- Proven experience managing external vendors and resolving complex payroll matters.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and accountability.
- Clear communication skills and comfort working across global teams and time zones.
- Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- You have C2-level proficiency in English.
- You are currently based in Europe or within a similar CET timezone.
