Receptionist (Maternity Cover)

The main purpose of this job is
- To provide excellent guest service
- Ensure high standards and efficiency of work
- To maintain high standards of hygiene, health and safety
- To fulfill your duties to the best of your ability
- Maternity cover: 6 to 9 months (28 hours per week)
Your Role
- Welcome and greet guests
- Answer and direct incoming calls
- Inform guests of hotel rates and services
- Make and confirm reservations for guests
- Ensure proper room allocation
- Register and check guests in
- Confirm relevant guest information
- Verify guest's payment method
- Verify and imprint credit cards for authorisation
- Issue room keys and direct guests to their rooms
- Maintain clear and accurate records of guest room booking
- Compute all guest billing, accurately posting charges to guest rooms and house accounts
- Receive and transmit messages for guests
- Listen and respond to guest queries and requests both in-person and by phone
- Provide accurate information about local attractions and services
- Liaise with necessary staff including housekeeping and maintenance to address any problems or complaints made by guests
- Complete and maintain any incident reports, daily activity reports or other reports requested by management
- Close guest accounts and check guests out
- Review accounts and charges with guests during the check-out process
- Process accurate payment of guest accounts
- Inform housekeeping when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning
- Monitor visitors to the hotel
- Maintain a neat and orderly front desk and reception area
Standards and Quality service
- Maintain and strive to improve standards of service
- Maintaining a thorough and efficient service
- Monitoring and maintaining a close relationship with the other departments to ensure customers receive the best possible service
Personal Responsibilities
- You must always be dressed neatly, fresh and wear a clean uniform
- Promote good timekeeping
- Be flexible with your working hours
- Promote good morale in the department by being committed and positive when on shift
- Be committed to training courses and meetings scheduled for you
- Be prepared to carry out reasonable duties asked of you by your Senior Manager
- Give feedback to the Manager regarding any items that you feel can be changed or improved
- To communicate in a professional and friendly manner with guests and staff alike at all times
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6-9 months
Pay: Up to £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 28 per week
