Wording Specialist – London
Salary: circa £60,000
An established client of ours is seeking a Wording Specialist to join their London office. This role is ideal for a candidate with 1–2 years' experience who is confident working independently while collaborating with a supportive team of underwriters and managers.
Role Overview
The Wording Specialist will work closely with the Underwriting Performance Team and be responsible for drafting, reviewing, approving, and managing insurance documentation. This includes policy wordings, certificates, IPIDs/summaries, proposal forms, and underwriting guidelines. Acting as a technical expert, the role will provide guidance to both internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring documentation is accurate, compliant, and customer-friendly.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, approve, and oversee production of insurance documentation for all products within the division
- Provide expert advice on insurance wordings to underwriters and claims teams
- Ensure documentation meets internal standards, market practices, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain a centralised document library and keep content up to date
- Collaborate with product development teams to support new and enhanced offerings
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in policy language and recommend improvements
- Build strong relationships with underwriters, insurers, and other stakeholders
- Stay current with market developments, legal, and regulatory changes affecting policy wordings
Candidate Profile
- 1–2 years' experience in insurance wording or a related underwriting function
- Able to work independently while utilising support from colleagues and management
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills
- Confident in providing technical advice and influencing stakeholders
- Proactive and committed to delivering what is best for the customer
