The Rise School is an Ofsted 'Good' registered for pupils with autism aged 4-18 years and at full capacity has 130 pupils in primary and secondary education.

As an Intervention Teaching and Learning Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in this journey. You will deliver high quality teaching, learning and behaviour support using a behavioural approach (PBS) as part of a class team working with autistic children and young people. To support pupils to "close the gap" between their personal starting points and meeting age-related expectations in their core subject.
We are seeking an enthusiastic English Intervention Teaching and Learning Assistant to deliver targeted English support using a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) approach. Working with small groups of learners, you will help learners "close the gap" between their personal starting points and age-related expectations in English.

As an Intervention Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students bridge the gap between their individual starting points and age-related expectations in core subjects. You will work closely with both students and teachers to implement targeted interventions, providing additional support and resources tailored to each student's needs.
We are looking for empathetic and adaptable individuals, who thrive under pressure and have a natural ability to solve challenges. You will also need physical and emotional resilience to work with young people with a primary diagnosis of Autism, some of whom have other complex needs. You will be keen to use our positive behavioural approach, have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and champion the vision and values of our school community.
- Lead English intervention sessions for small groups of pupils with identified learning needs.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning activities, supported by the Class Teacher, Department Lead and Assessment & Curriculum Lead.
- Provide behavioural and learning support using a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) approach.
Actively develop your understanding of effective pedagogy, including:
Teacher-talk and instructional clarity
- Skilled questioning and dialogue
- Formative assessment
- Modelling and scaffolding learning
