Job Summary

We are a small, homely day nursery looking to expand our current team. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early years Practitioner to join our team.

We are a small team and we work together to ensure the children in our setting have the best start they can. We value hard work and understand the importance of our team's well-being and support staff development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to providing high-quality care and learning experiences for young children.

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the development of children aged 0-5 years.

We are open 50 weeks of the year 7:30am - 5:30pm. (Closed over Christmas )

Position is ideally all year round however we may be able to offer this position term time only for the right candidate if desired. Salary shown is pro rata.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that support the developmental needs of children in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative approach to childcare.
  • Manage daily routines and transitions smoothly, ensuring that children feel secure and valued.
  • Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to inform planning and development.
  • Provide leadership and support to junior staff members, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and organised at all times.
  • Drive initiatives that promote inclusivity and diversity within the nursery setting.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their child's development and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Ideally a Relevant level 3 qualification or minimum level 2 qualification in Nursery or Early Childhood Education. This is essential.
  • Experience working with children in a childcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage groups of children effectively while promoting positive behaviour.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their growth and development.
