Be Part of Something Real

A close-knit team with big ideas.

A passion for solving complex data challenges.

A leading technology company specialising in data intelligence, AI and geospatial solutions.

At Envitia, we are building something special.

By using the power of data to tackle real-world challenges, our teams empower organisations to make smarter, data-driven decisions.

We're thrilled to announce that Envitia has been named one of the
Sunday Times Top 100 Medium-Sized Companies to Work For in 2025
—a prestigious recognition that highlights our commitment to creating an outstanding workplace where innovation, collaboration, and personal growth thrive.

Here's what you'll get stuck into:

  • Influencing major digital and data transformation projects across the UK public sector.
  • Building and utilising smart, AI-powered tools that support real decision making.
  • Using tech to make a genuine difference in society

The Role

As part of our continued growth, Envitia is expanding its Application Engineering capability and is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join our team.

In this role, you'll work directly with Envitia's customers—primarily across UK Defence and Government—supporting critical systems through activities such as deployments, patching, upgrades, health checks, and issue resolution. You'll take ownership of deployed applications and their supporting infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of proactive, high-quality support services.

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. You'll work closely with Envitia's engineering teams when 3rd or 4th line technical input is required, gaining exposure to a wide range of technologies and complex environments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing SME in the continued development of our engineering function. You'll play a key role in shaping our support processes and helping to evolve our wider service offerings to deliver even greater value to our customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out installation and support activities, including system deployments, routine health checks, log inspections, patching, and upgrades.
  • Deliver both reactive and proactive support, escalating issues where service levels or quality may be at risk.
  • Manage and update support tickets promptly, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
  • Maintain in-house reference systems that mirror customer environments.
  • Develop and maintain support documentation, contributing to a growing knowledge base that strengthens service delivery and resilience.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, promoting Envitia's reputation for reliability and excellence.
  • Keep Account Managers informed on customer sentiment, personnel changes, and potential opportunities identified through support interactions.

Skills Required

  • Experience deploying and hosting applications within corporate Linux and/or Windows environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly PowerShell and Bash.
  • Familiarity with Java-based applications; hands-on development experience is an advantage.
  • Experience managing application hosting in Cloud or virtualized environments such as Azure, AWS, or VMware.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
  • Experience supporting applications with integration and connectivity challenges.
  • Capable of working independently to provide effective 1st and 2nd line support.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with typical containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes, Nomad)

Security Clearance Requirements

The successful candidate must be required to go through an SC security clearance.

Location

The role will require travel to our Horsham offices at least 2 days a month and travel to customer sites when required.
