About The Mentoring Lab

We are The Mentoring Lab, a specialist Youth Mentoring organisation and community of youth mentors offering high quality, evidenced based youth mentoring, training academy and consultation to schools, youth organisations, and local communities.

Our primary goal is to help youth escape the cycle of poverty, prevent underachievement in their learning, widen their access to opportunities, and sustainable careers to increase their social mobility.

About the Role

As a Freelance Peer Digital Youth Mentor, you'll provide relatable guidance to young people aged 13-25, using your lived experience and fresh perspective to help them overcome barriers to progression. Perfect for youth mentors, undergraduates, graduates and professionals wanting to give back and or enhance their skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide online peer mentoring and support to assigned mentees
• Maintain regular communication with mentees and program staff
• Participate in training, networking, and development programs
• Follow safeguarding protocols and professional boundaries
• Document sessions and track mentee progress

Requirements:

• Minimum 6-month commitment
• Complete mandatory onboarding and training
• Provide a minimum of two mentoring sessions per week (flexible scheduling)
• Enhanced DBS check (UK) or official police check (international)
• Two references (academic or professional)
• Identity verification
• Technical Specification to deliver online sessions (Laptop/PC not mobile phone, strong and stable WiFi, additional light source etc, headphones, mic, quiet room undisturbed)
• UK-based: ability to visit East London projects on Saturdays for verification
