MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Bar Supervisor & Duty Manager is responsible for leading daily operations across the bar and the wider venue, ensuring exceptional service standards, efficient team performance, and full compliance with company and licensing requirements. This role acts as the senior decision-maker during shifts, overseeing staff, customers, safety, and operational workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all bar operations, ensuring smooth service and consistent product quality.
  • Manage the venue during allocated shifts, acting as the main point of authority.
  • Coordinate front-of-house team to maintain seamless service.
  • Carry out opening and closing procedures

Staff Supervision & Training

  • Train new hires on service standards, bar skills, customer interaction, and safety protocols.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment.

Customer Service & Issue Resolution

  • Ensure guests receive exceptional service at all times.
  • Handle customer complaints or escalations quickly and professionally.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor, supporting both staff and guests.

Compliance, Safety & Standards

  • Ensure full adherence to licensing laws, age-verification policies, and alcohol safety guidelines.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation across the venue.
  • Monitor venue security, guest safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct regular checks on equipment, facilities, and stock storage areas.

Stock, Inventory & Financial Duties

  • Manage stock levels, conduct inventory checks, and support ordering processes.
  • Ensure accurate pouring, wastage control, and cost-efficient bar operations
  • balance tills, and complete required financial documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Support the development of cocktail menus, promotions, and events.
  • Provide feedback to management to improve service quality and team performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and other managers as required

Solid knowledge of drinks, bar operations, and hospitality standards
