An exciting opportunity has arisen within Children's Services for
dynamic
and
committed individuals
to provide support to families with a wide range of complex and often challenging needs to enable them to remain in their family unit and their communities, and to ensure they remain in education, employment and training (EET).

  • Build trust and confidence with young people through school-based interventions around healthy lifestyles and relationships.
  • Improve and maintain independence of children, young people and families.
  • Support parents/carers through evidence-based parenting programmes.
  • Influence partner agencies by advising on approaches to use with children and families to ensure emerging needs are met and to prevent escalation to statutory services
  • Work with colleagues to deliver provision that meets the needs of young people through work that is building based and/or in a variety of "street based" environments including mobile.
  • Guide young people and parents/carers to advice and support and health, education, employment and training.
  • Work as part of the Family Help Team to deliver the 'Think Family' approach.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures.

What will I be doing:
Delivering evidenced based parenting programs to parents of children and young people aged 6 plus:

Solihull Approach
A 10-week parenting course looking at child development, positive communication, emotional health, and responding to your child's behaviour.

Non-Violent Resistance (NVR)-
The NVR course offers tools and techniques to support parents and carers of children/ young people who show challenging attitudes and behaviours.

Delivering specific and time limited group work to young people who have been referred for support following Early Help Assessment by a lead professional around healthy lifestyles and relationships.

Advising partner agencies on approaches to use with children and families to ensure emerging needs are met and to prevent escalation to statutory services

NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) /EET -
The local authority has a statutory duty to track and record activity of all young people between 16-18 years old and to support or signpost those who are NEET into opportunities and/or provision for employment or training.

What skills and experience do you need to have:

  • Be enthusiastic, versatile and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Have experience of working with children, young people and families experiencing emotional, personal or practical problems.
  • Able to plan and deliver evidenced based parenting programmes
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary team and confidence to provide advice and support to partner agencies.
  • Able to problem solve and proactively work with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of and implementation of safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent IT skills
