This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join the hand therapy team based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The successful applicant will work alongside trained occupational therapists and physiotherapists in helping facilitate the treatment of patients with hand conditions in an outpatient setting, as well as, supporting the day to day running of the department.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work with people/patients on a 1:1 and group bases, as well as, part of a team. Is eager to learn and engage in all aspects of patient rehabilitation and departmental tasks. The working pattern will be 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday.

Supporting the hand therapy team to deliver excellent patient centred care by providing tailored rehabilitation programmes in an out patient setting
To provide clinical support to the Hand Therapy Team
To provide administrative support to the Hand Therapy Team.
To assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
To participate in CPD and other developmental activities related to the area of work.
To work under the direction and appropriate supervision of the responsible physiotherapist/ occupational therapist although initiative is encouraged

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.
To competently carry out the appropriate clinical procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated by the qualified therapist. It is the joint responsibility of the therapy assistant and the supervisor to ensure the assistant is competent and confident in carrying out the required intervention and duties.
To provide patients and carers with direction and guidance in 1:1 sessions following a specific treatment program as directed by the treating therapist.
To provide a specific treatment programmes as directed by the physiotherapist or occupational therapist. This will involve physical therapy and handling of patients some of whom have an acute injury such as; fractures, tendon injuries and wounds.
Encouraging patients and carers to be actively involved in the therapeutic process and helping promote carryover of exercises at home.
To participate in the running of rehabilitation groups for hand therapy patients as directed by the supervising therapist.
Setting up equipment for use by therapists during treatment sessions and rehabilitation groups.
To comply with the safe moving and handling of patients. This may involve helping patients to transfer, push wheelchairs, and use a hoist in the case of an emergency.
