Transport Scheduler – ParkerSteel Ltd (Canterbury)
Location: Canterbury, Kent
Hours: Full-time, Permanent – Sunday to Thursday, 1:00pm to 9:30pm (42.5 hours per week, 30-minute unpaid break)
Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and demand, we have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and organised Transport Scheduler to join our busy Transport Department based at our Canterbury site.
You will play a key role in ensuring our depot transport operations run smoothly — achieving deliveries on time, in full, and without error.
Duties
- Plan and schedule all customer deliveries across multiple depots.
- Optimise vehicle routes for efficiency and compliance.
- Monitor driver availability, hours, and vehicle capacity.
- Coordinate collections, returns, and external hauliers.
- Ensure full compliance with our Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence, driver hours, and working time regulations.
- Debrief drivers, manage Proof of Delivery (POD) records, and resolve delivery issues promptly.
- Oversee vehicle defect reporting, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
- Handle customer and internal transport enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Support the Transport Manager with day-to-day operational and administrative tasks.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience in transport planning or scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of driver hours, working time directives, and transport compliance.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, ideally with experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A proactive, hands-on attitude with a commitment to operational excellence.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
