Here at **ParkerSteel** we have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and ambitious **Transport Assistant**. This position will be supporting our ever-expanding Transport department at our Canterbury Site.

The role would suit a team worker who is keen to learn and committed within this fast-paced workplace. The Transport Assistant will be a crucial member of staff to ensure the smooth running of our Transport Department in an effective and time efficient way.

You will need to communicate with customers as well as cross functionality within different internal departments, so clear and strong communication skills are a must

You will be working on a **full-time, permanent basis, 40 hours per week, 08:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday**, and in return you will receive a competitive **starting salary of £25,000.**

**Role and Responsibilities**
- Ensure administration for our Operator Licence Compliance is completed on time and accurately to ensure the highest standard.
- Route scheduling and general transport office duties are carried out to ensure customer orders and internal material transfers are made ‘on-time-in-full’.
- The weighbridge office is always to be run in an effective and efficient way, maximising utilisation of all transport resources whilst ensuring the highest levels of external and internal customer service are maintained.
- Manage unforeseen challenges/circumstances which will adversely impact performance to ensure they are communicated to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
- Working within specific timescales with a large degree of accuracy.
- Assessment - monthly reports on time.

Experience in construction, factory or a warehouse environment is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided. Reliability and efficiency are key attributes for a successful applicant. You will also occasionally need to supervise drivers as well as 3rd party contractors

You will have excellent attention to detail and need to be able to work proactively within a team as well as having the self-motivation to work alone and achieve what needs to be done
