Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef for our exciting new opening in Tetbury, Charlie's Cafe and Wine bar A vegetarian / vegan Cafe and Wine bar opening in February 2026. We will be hiring for day and night chefs, brunch will be served in the day and small plates in the day. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production, hospitality, with a passion for delivering exceptional service and a either a back ground in vegetarian / vegan cooking or an extreme interest in it. You will lead the team and deliver exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality vegetarian and vegan dishes, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring all food safety standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of food quality.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and presentation standards.
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster a cohesive team environment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area.
  • Develop new recipes and menu items in collaboration with management, incorporating current culinary trends.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimise waste through effective stock control.
  • Assist in training new team members in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Serve dishes to guests when required, ensuring excellent customer service standards are upheld.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • The ability to stay positive, be proactive and lead the team this way
  • Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and food production techniques.
  • A passion for vegetarian and vegan cooking
  • Past experience in vegetarian / vegan cooking
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations pertinent to the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure.
  • Leadership qualities combined with a passion for culinary excellence and innovation.
  • Previous experience in cafe or restaurant service or serving is advantageous but not essential

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 30 per week

Work Location: In person
