Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation and support the kitchen staff in delivering high-quality dishes. The successful applicant will be involved in various aspects of pastry preparation, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and contributing to a seamless bakery/patisserie offer.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of dishes according to established recipes and standards
  • Support senior chefs with food preparation, including dough preparation, baking and decoration.
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed during food handling and storage
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment
  • Help with basic cooking tasks under supervision, gaining practical experience in culinary techniques
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the kitchen by supporting serving staff when necessary
  • Assist in stock control, including checking inventory levels and notifying management of shortages or expiry dates

Experience

  • Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments required (1-2 years minimum); further training will be provided for suitable candidates
  • Knowledge of patisserie/bakery preparation, food safety standards, and kitchen hygiene practices is advantageous
  • Familiarity with food preparation techniques and culinary terminology will be beneficial
  • A genuine interest in developing culinary skills within a professional setting is essential
