About the Role
We are currently recruiting for On-Call Firefighters at St Austell Community Fire Station– come and join our team
"One minute you could be sitting at home and the next minute you can be sitting on a fire appliance"
Perhaps you see yourself working as part of a close-knit team, maybe you would like to gain skills that others simply don't have, or you just want to make a difference. Fancy a job that earns you extra money and fits around your work and family commitments? #oncallfire
This is a rewarding role for anyone looking to join Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service. You don't need to have any previous firefighting experience - just the passion to protect and help your community.
On-Call Firefighters have everyday lives and jobs until their alerter sounds and they become professional Firefighters, responding to a range of operational incidents when required. Being a Firefighter is not just about fighting fires. An important part of today's service is fire and road safety prevention, education and safeguarding. When an emergency does occur, our Firefighters are fully trained and equipped to deal with a range of emergencies. On-Call Firefighters make up approximately 90% of emergency cover in the UK, which makes them an invaluable part of our society.
Below is a table of the levels of contract that the service offer. These are weekly contracted hours and will be discussed in more detail with the station management team at the initial interview.
