This recruitment campaign is being managed by OCS Group UK on behalf of Sussex Estates and Facilities LLP (SEF) - which is a partnership formed between OCS and the University of Sussex. SEF is the direct employer for this role and is responsible for delivering facilities management services across the University of Sussex estate.

About The Role:

Working Days: Monday - Friday, 6-10 am

Start of Contract: January 5th January

 Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) are recruiting Cleaning Operatives to deliver exceptional, high-quality customer service to students, staff, and visitors. The role primarily involves maintaining a high standard of cleanliness within academic buildings, in line with the Service Level Agreement. The position supports day-to-day facilities services and contributes to a positive student experience.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform thorough cleaning of academic spaces including classrooms, corridors, stairwells, and communal areas using appropriate methods and materials.
  • Carry out floor care routines such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and polishing of floors, using manual and powered equipment.
  • Cleaning and sanitising washroom facilities, ensure toilets, sinks, mirrors, and surfaces are hygienically cleaned to a high standard.
  • Use specialist cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and steam cleaners safely and effectively.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces and fixtures including maintaining cleanliness of desks, windowsills, skirting boards, and other high-touch areas.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Must have Right to Work in the UK.
  • A DBS will be completed for the successful candidate.
  • Previous cleaning experience
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
